<p>Responsible for development of controls architecture and algorithms for electric traction motors and power electronics for hybrid, fuel cell and electric vehicle applications.</p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Major Duties and Responsibilities</span></strong><strong> </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Generates technical solutions for complex controls of surface and interior mounted permanent magnet machines, induction machines, and other machine technologies</li>
<li>Generates technical solutions for complex digital controls of high voltage power electronics</li>
<li>Work as part of a diverse team of professionals supporting component development and subsystem and vehicle integration</li>
<li>Performs complex simulation and analysis of electric drive and high voltage power electronics and subsystems</li>
<li>Plans and performs testing, development and calibration in dynamometer facility</li>
<li>Supports engineering design development for utilization of advances in digital controls</li>
<li>Assists in definition of system requirements</li>
<li>Stays abreast of new technologies and competitive methods and products</li>
<li>Travels as required (10%), both domestic and international<span id="more-419"></span></li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Skills and Abilities</span></strong><strong></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience in development and testing of electric machines and digitally controlled high voltage power electronics</li>
<li>Experience in C and C++ programming languages</li>
<li>Experience in use of commercial simulation tools, such as Matlab Simulink and Simplorer</li>
<li>1+ years of practical experience preferred</li>
<li>Understanding of engineering theory and principles of electric machine and high voltage power electronics digital control processes</li>
<li>Knowledge of electric machine and high voltage power electronics design fundamentals preferred</li>
<li>Knowledge of Microsoft Windows software preferred (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)</li>
<li>Willing to relocate to Southern California</li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Education and/or Training</span></strong><strong></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>BS in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Computer Science, Math, or Physics preferred</li>

<li>Perform simulation of software operation in a virtual prototype environment</li>
<li>Support implementation and integration of software into controllers for electric drive and high voltage power electronics and subsystems</li>
<li>Support testing, development and calibration in laboratory and dyne facility environments</li>
<li>Ability to work in a fast paced environment with sometimes incomplete requirements</li>
<li>Ability to provide independent review and verification of software written by others</li>
<li>Travels as required (~10%), both domestic and international<span id="more-421"></span></li>
</ul>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Skills and Abilities</span></strong><strong></strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience in Microsoft Visual C++ utility programming</li>
<li>Experience in automotive or industrial firmware development preferred</li>

<li>Experience with CAN, GMLAN preferred</li>
<li>Experience with Motorola/Freescale processors, Spanish Oak and Snake families preferred</li>
<li>Experience with embedded compiler and debugging tools and software, Wind River Diab preferred</li>
<li>Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)</li>
<li>Willing to relocate to Southern California</li>
</ul>
